More about me:

I am a cognitive psychologist with expertise in human memory and cognition, metacognition (how people think about their own thinking), human factors, and the interplay of memory and technology. After earning my doctoral degree in cognitive psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which is ranked in the top 10 of all psychology graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report, I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Washington University in St. Louis, which has the highest concentration in the world of experts in memory research. I have received extensive training in scientific research over 15 years of higher education, and have worked and published with some of the top experts in the field of human learning and memory. I have designed and conducted dozens of research studies, including both basic and applied research, and have published my work in some of the top peer-reviewed journals in my field. My published work has been cited hundreds of times, including a book on Memory and Technology, being one of very few researchers in my field to take on such an important topic. I have worked with corporations before, most notably Microsoft, for whom I tested the effectiveness of a prototype wearable camera on improving memory. I also have interdisciplinary experience, working with experts in the arts and humanities. This has given me breadth and versatility, for example resulting in a paper on Expanded Taxonomies of Human Memory. Finally, my years of experience as a professor and award-winning teacher (particularly of research methods) have shaped my ability to explain things in ways that non-experts can understand. I have written for and presented to both technical and general audiences. I am eager to put my expertise and skills to use for your project, for example helping clients develop products that enhance human cognitive performance, helping clients use human factors to minimize risk and improve training, helping clients design research studies and perform statistical data analysis, and/or helping clients understand the complexity of human memory and what research tells us about how the mind works.
