Roadtrip/Moving from L.A. to Urbana, IL, Aug 8th-12th, 2006

After 4 years of living in the same apartment next to UCLA, it was a huge endeavor to move out of there and halfway across the country to Illinois for grad school (PhD program in cognitive psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign).  We jettisoned a lot of stuff using Craigslist, recycling, and trash. A moving company took most everything I was keeping (couches, bookshelves, many boxes of books, etc).  I crammed the rest into the battle-hardened FinleyMobile (1985 Chevy Blazer, driven by me since 1996) and was joined by five-time NASCAR champion Christopher Allen Zubris in an epic trek across cities, deserts, plains, and rivers.
